Cycling in the City is Newcastle’s campaign to get more people on their bikes and to get them more active.

We want to encourage people to give cycling a try by providing the skills and information they need to get started. We want to make cycling a fun, and viable choice for people in the city to get around and make cycling a part of their everyday lives.

Cycling is a cheap, healthy, and quick way to get around our city and by getting more people on their bikes we can also tackle traffic congestion and air pollution.

So if you are new to cycling and want to learn the skills and gain the confidence to get out and give it a go Newcastle Cycling in the City has all the information that you need.

Learn to ride is for beginners who cannot ride a bike. It is delivered by experienced instructors who run sessions specially targeted to help adults learn to balance and then ride short distances.

Level 1 is for people who are new to or returning to cycling but who are not confident and want to improve. The training should help trainees to cycle for short journeys off road and generally improve their cycling skills.

All cycle training will take place at the Cycle Hub on the Quayside in Newcastle.

You must live, work or study in Newcastle to access the training.

To book your place please email: cyclinginthecity@newcastle.gov.uk
